I went to see Echo and the Bunnymen last night in concert. Ok, so I innitialy wasn't sure I knoew who the fuck they were... so everybody kept telling me, you know them, they are like New Order or Joy Divison, like a classic 80's band. And if that wasn't enough, everybody kept telling me, come on, they had a song on the Donnie Darko soundtrack. So, finnaly, and partially due to the fact that i don't want to go into retirment like os many of my friends, I decided to go, of course it had to be a breath of fresh air that encouraged this bizzare action of going out, expereincing what the city has to finnaly to offer, in form of my friend Avital and her boyfriend who came visiting from Milan.
So I went, and it was so mega cool. Even though, I should have dressed more 80's... had I gone as a "Madonna Twin" that would have been cool, but at least I was some what emo - ly dressed, or if not enough, thne the attitude was there. The entire place was packed with Jerusalemites... mostly from my highschool. There were some people there, that were obvisouly from the older Jerusalem crouds... like 40ish... that are now working in the high tech or teach high school, but they were out to have a good time. It was amusing to watch, But in a good way. I didn't freak out seeing all my history condenced in one room... it was ok. Moreover, back to the music. Not only do we all know at leats one song by this band, but we all know most of their songs... Really. They are like those classic 80's recognizable songs that we all know and love from our past!!!
It was mega mega cool. I am so happy I went!!!

excellent chatulski!
i was just talking about this the other day...jerusalem was such an amazing place in the 80s.
we had the most wonderful hang outs; incense drenched caves lined with pillows where we drank tea lying down and smoked nargillas, or tiny smoke filled rabbit holes where live music was played. then we could walk through totally different worlds, from meah shearim to talpiyot where the club scene was just starting or yamin moshe with the amazing view of the old city, or on new years go to the beautiful ymca building and get lost, or watch movies in the cinemateque...it was the most fun, cultural and spiritual place, and it wasnt about money or dressing fab or being thin or whatever. it was about drifting in the city like smoke or inscense.
it was cool.
